If you purchase a $1000+ notebook computer at Office Depot, be prepared to keep it once you open it. Absolutely NO RETURNS for opened Technology Products. This is printed on the back of Office Depot's receipt printout, under their humorous "100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE" heading. Do they live on a different planet from people who can think and reason? What the hell does 100% satisfaction mean if they subtract 100% of your ability to be satisfied?
For those that would like to make their purchases from stores that give you a little more leeway in locking in to purchasing a product that could cost thousands of dollars, see my list below. I would definitely not recommend Office Depot for any purchases that you can get elsewhere. Do they think that there is no competition out there in the real world? If we continue to purchase from Office Depot, it will only encourage them to keep their ridiculous and not so humorous 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
Also note that Staples will price match other store's lower pricing on exact same items. Staples sounds like they really want your business. Forget about Office Depot and go to Staples for your office and technology needs.

Technology: Because technology changes so quickly, we can only accept it for return within 14 days of the date of receipt. This includes: computers, monitors, notebooks/laptops, copiers, all–in–one machines, digital cameras, modems, printers, computer peripherals, handheld computers, fax machines, scanners, wireless phones, telephones, GPS units, GPS accessories, shredders, digital projectors, netbooks, MP3 players and accessories, bluetooth items, digital picture frames, and networking products.

Returning New and Like-New Items
You may return any factory-sealed new or open like-new merchandise within 30 days of your purchase date.
OfficeMax will only accept the return of technology products in the original packaging (including all accessories and manuals) with the original sales receipt within 14 days of the original purchase date. Opened technology returned within the 14-day period with the original sales receipt will be subject to a 15% restocking fee. Defective technology items with the original sales receipt may be exchanged for the same item within 14 days of the original purchase date. Technology items consist of, but may not be limited to, computers (desktop, laptop or netbook), monitors, digital cameras, hard drives, business machines, networking equipment, projectors, cash registers, digital picture frames, shredders, telephones, computer peripherals and accessories.

Dell Return Policy (U.S. Only)
Dell values its relationship with you, and offers you the option to return most products you purchase directly from Dell. You may return eligible products for a credit or a refund of the purchase price paid, less shipping and handling and any applicable restocking fees, as set forth in detail below.
21-Day Return Period for Certain Hardware and Software Products and Accessories: Unless you have a separate agreement with Dell, or except as provided below, all hardware, accessories, peripherals, parts, and media-based software that is unopened and still in its sealed package or, if delivered electronically, that has not been downloaded, may be returned within 21 days from the date on the packing slip or invoice for a credit or a refund of the purchase price paid, less shipping and handling and any applicable restocking fees. Restocking Fees: Unless the product is defective or the return is a direct result of a Dell error, Dell may charge a restocking fee of up to 15% of the purchase price paid, plus any applicable sales tax.
Return / Exchange Policy
Products are warranted solely by the manufacturer. The complete warranty is included with the product and is subject to the conditions set forth by the manufacturer. J&R offers an exclusive 30-day exchange/refund policy on mail order and web purchases, and a 14 day exchange/refund policy on retail store purchases. Please note: defective computer software and opened pre-recorded DVDs and CDs may be exchanged for same title only. For health reasons, in-ear headphones and some personal care items that have been opened may only be exchanged if defective and for the same item. All retail store purchases require your J&R itemized receipt for return or exchange.
If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may return it for exchange or refund (excluding shipping and handling charges) within 30 days, subject to a Return Authorization from J&R (see exceptions above). Keep your purchase, accessories and all packing materials in new condition to avoid any restocking fees. Web and mail order purchases require an RA (Return Authorization) number. For an RA (Return Authorization) number, call Customer Service at (800) 426-6027. Please note that an RA # does not guarantee final disposition and all returns are subject to inspection. All exchanged/ returned merchandise must be in original factory carton, including all packaging materials, inserts and manuals, warranty cards (not filled-out) and all accessories. Please do not tape or write anything on the item or the original manufacturer's carton. In some cases, we may charge you for the replacement of damaged, altered, missing, written-on or taped-on contents or cartons. We reserve the right to refuse any such items.
* All returns must be packed in an outer shipping carton with valid RA # written on the outside of the shipping carton.
We do not reimburse or refund shipping charges if a third-party shipper is used, such as Mail Boxes Etc., Postal Annex, etc. Note: A signed proof of delivery will be required on all lost package claims. The above guidelines apply to all internet and mail order purchases.

While I am at it, I would just like to say that the Office Depot Coupons are virtualy useless, at least to me. The coupons don't cover most of the stuff in their store that I am interested in. See below for an example of the disclaimers on their coupons. Its okay if you want to buy $50 worth of pencils and paper but, otherwise, the coupon is useless.
